Crosby, Stills and Nash are about a third of the way finished on their new album, which will include numerous cover versions of classic rock songs…but when it will be released is anybody’s guess, according to Graham Nash.

Nash, in a recent interview with Billboard.com, admitted that it has been “a lot slower” than it has ever been for the band to complete an album, but points to the fact that the band has been touring since May of this year and will continue until October. He also says that the band and their producer, Rick Rubin, want to make sure they get it right.

Nash says that working with Rubin has been “very interesting” and that the famed modern rock producer has some “good ideas” and that the band is very open to listening to him.  Some of the cover versions that are expected to be a part of the album include the Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday,” The Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider,” as well as Tim Hardin’s “Reason To Believe,” a song made famous by Rod Stewart.

Elton John and his idol, singer-songwriter Leon Russell have been working on a new album, and its expected to released next month.

The duo will be releasing The Union on October 19th, and will be marking the occasion with a concert at New York’s Beacon Theatre, according to Rolling Stone magazine.  The two got together after John phoned Russell at his Nashville home last year and proposed the idea of the two of them working together.  The recording sessions for the album took place in Los Angeles earlier this year, just three weeks after Russell underwent brain surgery.  John says that Russell was probably still feeling the effects of the anaesthetics, but says that the music seemed to “wire him back up.”

The last time the duo worked together was back in 1970, when John opened for Russell at New York’s Fillmore East.  John says that Russell’s music takes him back to “a wonderful time in my life.”

Rod Stewart says that his next child will be his last.  It’s not that the legendary rocker doesn’t like kids…he just can’t afford to have any more.

Stewart and his current wife, Penny Lancaster, are expecting their second child next March.  Stewart is also the father to Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee and Liam from three previous relationships.  Stewart also fathered a child that was given up for adoption in the 1960s.

Stewart says that he is “very happy” about the couple’s upcoming arrival but says that he “can’t have any more kids, otherwise I’ll be touring until I’m 90.”

Stewart has another creation coming out very shortly—The Great American Songbook Volume 5 .  The new album is a collection of 12 pop standards, including a few Frank Sinatra tunes, which is due out on October 19th.
